Credit repair in San Diego? You can do it yourself.

The short answer

You don't need a credit repair company to dispute errors on your credit report. Dispute Beast is a do-it-yourself tool: it finds what's worth disputing and writes the letters. You decide what gets sent. Use it in the Dispute Beast iOS app or on the web, with the Beast AI Credit Coach built in to answer your questions. Disputing is free; Beast needs your credit monitoring to read your report.

Why San Diego doesn't need an office

Search "credit repair San Diego" and you'll find offices on West Broadway downtown, 30th Street in North Park and out in La Mesa. Most of what they do is send dispute letters to the three bureaus.

You can send the same letters yourself, from Chula Vista, El Cajon or Oceanside. San Diego is a Navy and Marine town, and active duty service members can also ask the bureaus for a free active duty alert.

How it works

  1. 1

    Bring your credit monitoring

Subscribe to one of two independent monitoring services: ProCreditWatch for FICO® 8, or Beast Credit Monitoring for VantageScore 3.0. Beast reads all three reports from it: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

  2. 2

    See what's worth disputing

The AI goes through every account and flags what looks inaccurate, incomplete or unverifiable: wrong balances, duplicate collections, late payments that weren't late, inquiries you didn't make.

    Send your Beast Attack

Your Beast Attack is your set of dispute letters. Review them, then send them. Don't want to print and mail? Our partner Sprint Mail prints them and sends them first-class for you, with tracking.

    Track the responses

Bureaus generally have 30 to 45 days to answer. Beast keeps track of each round so you know what changed and what to send next. Stuck on a response? Ask the Beast AI Credit Coach.

What it can dispute

The same items, under the same lawInaccurate or unverifiable items

Hiring a company is legal and some people prefer it. Under the federal Credit Repair Organizations Act, a credit repair company can't charge you before it has performed the service, and it can't promise to remove accurate information. Neither can anyone else.

What you can dispute

  • Late payments that were reported wrong, or with the wrong date
  • Collections that are duplicated, already paid, or not yours
  • Charge-offs with the wrong balance or status
  • Hard inquiries you never authorized
  • Accounts that belong to someone else, or personal details that are wrong

Questions from San Diego

No. Disputing an error is your right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and you can do it from your phone. Dispute Beast finds the items worth challenging and writes the letters; you decide what gets sent.

Your dispute rights are the same as everyone's. On top of them, active duty service members can ask the credit bureaus for an active duty alert, which lasts one year and tells lenders to verify your identity before opening new credit. It's free.

Yes. Dispute Beast has an iOS app for iPhone, and it also works in any web browser. Both include the Beast AI Credit Coach, which answers your credit questions and explains what to do next, any time.

No. Dispute Beast is a do-it-yourself dispute tool. We don't contact the bureaus for you or charge a monthly service fee. You bring your own credit monitoring, the app finds the items worth disputing and writes the letters, and you decide what goes out.

Yes. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act you can dispute any information you believe is inaccurate or can't be verified, directly with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, at no cost. The bureaus generally have 30 days to investigate, sometimes 45.

The app itself has no software fee. Its AI needs live access to your 3-bureau report, so you subscribe to one of two independent monitoring services: Beast Credit Monitoring at $49.99 a month (VantageScore 3.0) or ProCreditWatch at $59.99 (FICO 8). Both use soft pulls, so checking never hurts your score. Printing and mailing through Sprint Mail is optional and priced separately.

No, and anyone who promises that is a red flag. Disputes work on information that is wrong, incomplete or can't be verified. If an accurate item is on your report, time and new positive history are what move your score.
